Island Quilters Guild March 2022 Meeting and Show n Tell

 March 17, 2022

It was St. Patrick's Day and many of our members came to the meeting wearing green and ready to enjoy the meeting even though there was no green beer on tap (or anything, as far as that goes).  But only 2 members had quilted items to celebrate the day - Lauren and Myrna.  Myrna showed a small hanging she made many years ago.  And Lauren made 4 mugrugs that no-one except the member that won them because they were put in for one of the gift draws (using the pattern from this month's newsletter).

Kathy taught a block called 'Antique Tiles' and even had kits of blue cut out for members to take.  This block will be sent to Quilts of Valour.

It was fun to have Dianne and Pat P. back at the fundraising table:

For our program, Freda organized some games.  We moved around and got some exercise and lots of laughs.  In the game Freda was telling us about, we had to toss a poker chip and see who could get it closest to the bag of fabric.

We contributed charm squares and fat quarters and Freda made up gift bags for the winning members

Show n Tell:
We are going to miss Barb B.!  And she is busily trying to complete fabrics - this one is a jelly roll quilt.

Brenda P. has made a beautiful sunflower collage - designer sending profits to Ukrainian charity.

Brenda P. continues on her fibre art postcard journey.

Judy Bl. made some placemats.

Judy Bl. also made a lovely table runner.

Kathy showed a baby quilt made with clamshells.  She said that there are many shown on the Internet with different animals.

Kathy also made this quilt top for 'Quilts for Survivors'.  She displayed a great way to use panel squares surrounded by half-square triangle units.

Rolanda shows the back of her 'quilt as you go' quilt and the next photo shows the front.  Apparently the person who will receive the quilt 'really' loves pink!
