Hawberry Quilter - December 2022

To all the members of the Island Quilters Guild, 'Merry Christmas' and we hope you enjoy a happy healthy holiday season!  Drive safely and watch out for those pesky deer - it seems nowadays that they really don't know anything about how to cross roads when there are no vehicles around!

Hawberry Quilter - November 2022

First snow of the year to stay on the ground!  Hope you enjoy this issue and really hope that all our members made a Christmas decoration from the instructions on page 9 - even if you can not come to our luncheon meeting on December 10th, please make one and mail it in or give it to a friend to bring it (Christmas fabric is optional!  You could always stuff it a lot to make a pin cushion.).

Island Quilters Guild - October 2022 Show 'n Tell

Before showing you some great photos, Rolanda has a call out for this block.

She gave out a lot of block kits and there are still some missing!  These blocks are meant for a quilt of valour, so if you have one, please complete and return it to the November meeting.  Thanks.

It was wonderful to be at this guild meeting when we welcomed quilter Fran Holland (

After the trunk show, our meeting began with a presentation by Alice McIntosh of her First Place 'Viewer's Choice' ribbon from the CQA/ACC Quilt Canada 2022
Alice won an amazing Janome sewing machine and her mentor for the challenge, Rolanda, won a year's membership in CQA/ACC.
The theme was 'Real Fun' and you can see the activities Alice enjoys if you look closely.  Some techniques used were FPP, piecing, yarn couching, computer-guided quilting, machine quilting, hand quilting.

At the Show 'n Tell section we enjoyed seeing all the projects:
Freda B. - at least one item for Christmas!

Lauren M. - Pumpkin placemat from Sept. newsletter.

Lauren shows a charity quilt made by Jacoba Near at the Quilt Retreat this year!  She donated it to us.

Melissa shows a quilt designed by Art East Quilting Co.

Myra - a winning quilt at Providence Bay fair!
